Run to Remember
NHF’s signature athletic fundraising program provides an opportunity for individuals or teams of people to participate any race or walk, of any length or any pace, in honor of a loved one. Participants raise funds for their event, which are divided between NHF and a local hospice of their choice. Mike Bauschelt ran the 2011 Chicago Half Marathon in honor of his parents, Mary Jane and Harold Bauschelt, both of whom died with the help of hospice care. Half of the funds he raised were given to Hospice of Calumet Area.
“Hospice was a blessing to both mom and dad, and to the rest of my family. This is not only a chance to pay it back, but to hopefully pay it forward as well.”
